HEDC STORY

The Hispanic Economic Development Corporation (HEDC) was established in 1993 as a certified 501(c) 3 not-for-profit community development corporation in the State of Missouri.  Founded for the purpose of developing and implementing economic development initiatives that would positively contribute to the quality of life for Latinos in Kansas City, HEDC utilizes its designation as a CDC to access various resources and tools that allow the organization to serve as a catalyst for change within the Latino community.

While the HEDC service area is metro wide, a majority of our clients continually come from the urban core neighborhoods of the Westside and Northeast area in Kansas City, Missouri, and the area of Armourdale and Prescott in Kansas City, Kansas.

Like much of the Greater Kansas City Metropolitan Area, these areas are undergoing significant demographic changes.  The Latino population in the Kansas City area is well over 200,000  people according to statistics gathered by the U.S. Census Bureau.

Kansas City's leading Latino business and development resource.
